Wooster dominated the scoring chances in an offensive-minded game, which featured a combined 44 shots and 31 penalty corners. Johnson was left alone about 10 yards from the cage in the third period and ripped a shot that hit square off the post. In the first period, Wooster was in the right positions, but so were Concordia's defenders, who came up with three defensive saves during a seven-shot, four-corner frenzy that took place in a 46-second span.
Wooster outshot Concordia 27-17, had a 16-2 lead on shots on goal, and edged out the Falcons 16-15 on corners. Binley kept the Falcons in the game with 11 saves, while Abby McGue had two of the four defensive saves.
The Crimson did not let the early goal sink its spirits, however, as Harvard was able to fire four shots in the first half, including one that tested Princeton goalie Seth MacMillan. Harvard closed the first half down 5-4 in shots, but with two corners to Princeton's one.
The chances picked up considerably in the second half for the hosts, and a goal seemed imminent after a number of strong pushes towards the Tigers' net. The breakthrough finally came in the 72nd minute off one of Harvard's four corners in the second half. Senior Ross Friedman pounded a ball into the box and Philip Fleischman headed the ball down and past MacMillan for the equalizer at 71:12.
The 1-0 loss is the seventh one-goal loss of the season for the Spartans, and one of 13 one-goal decisions for MSU this season. With a slow offensive start (outshot 9-1 and PSU held a 5-0 edge on penalty corners in the first half), the Spartans got back into it with seven shots and four corners in the period after intermission, but were bolstered by strong defensive play of redshirt sophomore Sierra Patton, who had eight saves in the game. 781b155fdc
